About Us

The Nicole Cares Foundation is a dedicated 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization based in Lansing, IL. We are a charitable institution that focuses on assisting patients and their families throughout their battle against lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that affects the immune system. Our organization provides more than just financial help; we give hope, care, guidance, and encouragement to all individuals who are greatly affected by this life-threatening disease.

Our Mission

To assist individuals and families affected by lymphoma, raise public awareness of the disease, raise funds for research and a cure, and provide survivorship services after the completion of treatment.

Nicole’s Story

In July 2016, Nicole C. Bullock was a vibrant wife and mother preparing to leave town for a family vacation when her health took a drastic turn. Nicole developed symptoms of fatigue, decreased appetite, weight loss, and night sweats. The symptoms progressed with Nicole feeling as though something was constantly stuck in her throat. Within weeks, she was having difficulty breathing. Nicole was misdiagnosed twice with acid reflux disease until CT scans of her neck and chest revealed a large mass.

Nicole During Lymphoma Treatment

On September 30, 2016, Nicole was diagnosed with Stage 2b Mediastinal Diffuse Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. At that time, Nicole didn’t know much about the disease or anyone that had it. Following her diagnosis, Nicole endured months of aggressive inpatient chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.  While receiving treatment, God placed a calling on Nicole’s life to use her diagnosis to help others, bring awareness to Lymphoma, and use her testimony as evidence of His healing power. It was on Nicole’s hospital bed that the Nicole Cares Foundation was born.

Today, Nicole is cancer-free and has devoted her life to educating others about the importance of early detection and health advocacy. She credits her strong faith in God along with the support of family and friends for carrying her through.  Nicole is an award-winning entrepreneur, international speaker, and healthcare advocate.  In 2020, Nicole penned her first independent offering as an author with “If I Be Lifted Up,” a stress relieving coloring therapy book for the SOUL.  In 2021, Nicole was named one of The Chicago Defender’s “Women of Excellence” for her work in the community with the foundation.

Nicole earned a B.S. in Organization Management and an MBA from Purdue University. Nicole and her husband, James, are the parents of three children.

Impact

In 2025, there will be an estimated 2.01 million new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States. Many of these people do not have adequate support and rely on services provided by The Nicole Cares Foundation. We have provided emotional and financial support, as well as distributed care packages to those affected by cancer at area hospitals or directly to their home. We are blessed to stand in the gap and have distributed over a thousand care packages across the country. We want patients to know they are not alone during their cancer journey.
